Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs mixed fish (salmon, trout, or white fish), cut into chunks
  • 8 cups water
  • 2 medium potatoes, cubed
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 1 leek, sliced
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 10 peppercorns
  • 1/4 cup vodka (optional, traditional)
  • Fresh dill, chopped
  • Fresh parsley
  • Salt
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

    Bring water to a boil in a large pot

    Add onion, bay leaves, and peppercorns

    Simmer for 15 minutes to create broth

    Add potatoes, carrots, and leek

    Cook until vegetables are almost tender, about 10 minutes

    Add fish chunks and simmer gently for 8-10 minutes

    Add vodka in the last 2 minutes if using
